Hi, it’s Julie, also known as @julieannsbookclub on Instagram, and I run the Knotty Novels website, social media and event coordination with my manager Katie! I graduated with a BA in Journalism in 2023 but managed to get “roped in”, pun intended, to the book and publishing industry right after graduation. I’ve been working at Capital Books for 2 years and have been managing Knotty Novels since it opened in August of 2024.
A big part of the reason why I wanted to start this blog was to bring awareness to the Romance genre and break the “cringe” stigma behind it. People tend to forget that the Romance genre is more than just smut, spice and sex. Romance books can focus on confidence, growth, communication, self-love, learning to love others etc. We learn things from Romance books, the same way someone may learn things from general fiction.
With this blog, I hope to bring in authors who can answer questions to break the stigma, who can interest non-romance readers into starting to read romance and to focus on developing a welcoming community for everyone.
